The purpose of this workshop is to expose participants to several hand-lettering styles and the calligraphy tools and techniques that create them.
Gestural, modern and block letter forms will be covered in the workshop.
The instructor will provide step-by-step instruction on how to use the materials to achieve the letter forms. There will be an emphasis on exploration and experimentation so that participants can discover for themselves what is appealing. Based on the notion that everyone already has handwriting skills this workshop is designed to “re-awaken” the joy of making marks and expressing beautiful sentiments in a visually compelling manner.
This workshop can serve both as an introduction to the three session workshop in May, and as a stand-alone class. Participants will leave this workshop with the satisfaction of learning something new and either continue in the May workshop or take their new skills and explore independently the joys of hand-lettering.
