Workshop Summary:
Your art is great. How do you get to greatness quicker?
Join Jack as he'll show you some tips and tricks to work smart, not hard.
Syllabus/Schedule:
This course will be a mix of discussion, quick sketches, and more refined sketches.
Approximate timeline:
30 min. - Opening discussion highlighting the best practices for; quick sketches, art habits, and how to promote
30 min. - Six, 5 minute quick sketches. Various subject matter from human poses, still life, to an item in your pocket.
30 min. - Field Trip! Jack will take the class with their sketchbooks and do quick drawings of people, vehicles, buildings etc.
30 min. - Sketches from your sketchbook. Three, ten minute drawings.
10 min. - Break
10 min. - Recap discussion
30 min. - Volunteer life drawing (three ten minute poses)
30 min. - One drawing from sketchbook.
30 min. - One life drawing from pose.
10 min. - Closing discussion
10 min. - Q and A
Materials provided:
_Drawing horses
_Large sketch pads (approx. 17" x 20")
_2 bulldog clips
_Rigid backers to clip sketchpads to
_Sketch pencils
_8.5" x 11" paper (if the student doesn't have a sketchbook)
Students bring: whatever their favorite medium is and a sketchbook.

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR:
Jack Kent is a Portland based cartoonist and designer. He writes and draws three published comics; Gulls, Sketchy People, and Minus Tide. A Newport, Oregon native, he's been living in Portland now for twenty years and loves the artistic energy of the city. Jack will keep busy with his different comic projects and loves meeting Portland artists.
